Cream of Tartar is a dry ingredient. Go the the grocery store and pick it up. It's with the spices.

Good luck on the meringue. How do you make cream of tartar?
i think you can only buy it from the store. it helps form stiffer peaks i believe. but i make meringue pie cupcakes and they came out fine with the cream of tartar.
It is found by the spices in your grocery store.
You can't make it. Cream of tartar comes from the inside of aged wine barrels, you have to buy it.
You don't make it you buy it. It will be in the baking section of your local grocery store. It is used to help stiffen your egg whites, I wouldn't skip it especially if you haven't made meringue before.
Add just a little bit of lemon juice to it. It is the acid in the cream of tartar that helps the egg whites stiffen. A little bit of lemon juice should do the trick.

Frosting: Melt butter, soften cream cheese. Add butter to cream cheese and mix. Add powdered sugar and vanilla. Mix well. Spread on layers and top of the cake. Garnish with black walnuts
can't make it, have to purchase from the grocery store. It;s on the spice aisle, it's not expensive, maybe a buck or so ... but you really need it for your pie, so jump and the car and GO!!

Good luck!
You can only get it from the Supermarket.

I love Lemon Merangue Pie ... my favourite.
