When making ice cream, can you substitue heavy cream for half and half?

Also, will the ice cream freeze as well? When making ice cream, can you substitue heavy cream for half and half?
you can it wont be as rich but I actually like it better

Sorry read your question backwards. Most icream is a blend of cream and 1/2 and 1/2When making ice cream, can you substitue heavy cream for half and half?
Yes you can but it's going to take longer because you're useing only 3/4 of the butter fat you need for a creamy dessert. Hope you're not useing a hand crank maker, if you are go get some quarters and call the kids to help
You can do that,it will make it a little more fattening but it'll work. And it will freeze well also.
Yes, you can substitute heavy cream for your recipe that calls for half and half, because... the recipe you have is actually substituting half and half for heavy cream!!! People have gotten away from using heavy cream because of the high calorie and fat content, but oh the joys of fat and calories...that's the part that tastes the best!! It will freeze into a creamy confection that has a richer, more satisfying taste and feel.

The down side of using heavy cream is this: after you've had real ice CREAM...... ice milk, ice half and half and ice yogurt will never again be quite good enough.
Yes you can and it makes it taste better too.
