I have a couple, and they work great. However, one of them rattles a bit, and I wonder if that is dried up freon pellets in it. Could that affect the ice cream in any way?Are vintage ice cream scoops with a hollow aluminum handle safe to use?

are you afraid of the stuff in the handle getting on the scoop??
if so than I'd get a new one, better to be safe than sorry.
if it looks cool, than I would just use it as docoration in your kitchen. like get anice looking jar and put the old scoop, and some other matching things in it.
