I have a recipe that calls for ';soup cream';and I have never heard of that. It lists sour cream as a garnish, so I know it's not a misprint. Also in a bit of a hurry, my mother's quite impatient. What is soup cream when it is listed in a recipe?
I'd like to see that recipe! There is no such thing, just use cream. What is soup cream when it is listed in a recipe?
Sour cream is just that, the only thing close to a substitute would be Cr猫me Fra卯che. Maybe sour cream is an American thing? It's often used an a condiment or garnish.
If you're sure it's not a typo, I would opt for heavy cream. That's typically what's used in cream-based soups.
